God Spectrum

There are many different types of "gods" in Numbers, differentiated by the amount of Magninium that they produce and carry in their bodies. It is possible to move up the latter (although painful, depending on the jump), but not possible to move back down.

Higher beings (lesser gods and above) can only be killed via draining their Magninium first, typically with gold or silver, and then striking a killing blow to their bodies. The higher up one moves on the Spectrum, the more difficult this becomes, as each step has exponentially more magic than the last.

Unless otherwise stated, assume that any rung on the Spectrum can be of any race.

Anything lesser god and above can endlessly create more individuals that belong to the lower rungs on the Spectrum's ladder. (i.e. a Fragment can easily create more Gladar, though Frags usually won't.)

Mortal

Mortals are the most populous of the Spectrum, and have a huge sampling of races that they potentially can be. They all have some form of magic within them and can use black magic to an extent, but only a small handful can use arcane magic.

Their lifespans range from 150-1000 years, depending on race. They can die of any natural cause a human can save for radiation. Rather than die of old age, however, they die from their magic bursting out of their body and their body being left behind. (This is much less gruesome than it sounds).

The youngest age in the range for a race is the youngest reported death from this magic-burst. The oldest age is a hard cap - no members of that race have survived past that age, if they are mortals.

Mortals do not visibly age, gain wrinkles, etc.

Immortal

Immortals are functionally identical to mortals, save that they do not contain the biological code for the magical implosion that ends a mortals' life. This can be caused by intentionally blessing a bloodline, or simply random genetic mutations in the womb. However, it is not hereditary, and two Immortals having a child cannot produce another Immortal.

They can die from any other means - being murdered, sickness, hit by a car, etc.

Demigod

Demigods are typically the children of lesser gods and im/mortals, but can also be handcrafted by anything above them on the Spectrum. They do not die from magic-bursting, but can be killed through other means.

However, if the damage to their body was not too severe (this varies from demigod to demigod, based on personal disposition and willpower at the time of 'death') they will respawn at a designated area, usually wherever they feel safest, recovered and in full health. The respawn point can be edited with the use of enchanted items.

Not all Demigods know who their lesser god parent(s) are.

Devil & Seraph

Devils are warped forms of beings on the spectrum, and typically range from as low as mortals to as high as Harmonics/Chaotics. They were exposed to a high degree of Magninium radiation which warped their own magic and DNA, giving them different traits depending on severity. These traits are often organized into specific groups if the devil population of a Universe is high enough.

Traits range from simply adding fangs, horns, and a long tail, to the addition of a monsterous extra form, or ghostlike abilities. Some Universes use devilification as a form of punishment, and these extra traits are intended to be an instant visual marker of devilhood.

Seraphs are always created in tandem when a devil is, and are created from the runoff magic that leaks from the devil during radiation. They form a being after some time, which is incredibly bloodthirsty and seeks out their mirror devil to consume them. After eating their devil, Seraphs will often hunt out other devils, as their consumption brightens their own halo, which is significant in Seraph culture.

Seraph can be of any race, but often have wings. They always have a halo, whose brightness is determined by the number of devils the Seraph has killed and eaten.

Lesser God

Lesser gods are the first rung on the ladder considered to be a "higher being", aka a true god. They can create mortals and dimensions (a catch-all name for the nations of a Universe) and generally have an affinity for something, which they can also call their representation.

Creating dimensions is intrinsic to their being and is typically the first action a lesser god takes upon birth. Most go on to rule their dimension as its dictator, although some avoid this.

Affinities are not known from birth and can even change over time, depending on the lesser gods' feelings about themselves and passion for their works. It can specialize further (a lesser god of art may choose to call themself a lesser god of painting in time) or change entirely (perhaps they choose to be a lesser god of cooking, instead). Typically, affinities within a Universe do not overlap, as it's seen as rude to "take" someone else's affinity.

Each lesser god is handcrafted by the Harmonics or Chaotics of their Universe, although not every lesser god knows this (or knows who specifically created them).

Harmonic/Chaotic

H/C are higher beings who are the strongest individuals within Universes. There are typically 10 to a Uni (5 of each) although this number is variable, depending on history, Gladic preferences, and health. They reside in the Harmonic and Chaotic Realms, respectively.

Harmonics tend to represent positive things, and the five standard for a Universe represent Hope, Water, Death, Change, and Sound. Chaotics tend to represent negative things, and their five standard is Violence, Hatred, Anger, Apathy, and Decay. However, these are not judgments of personality - Chaotics may be kind, sweet, loving, etc., just as Harmonics can be cruel and violent.

There must be one alicorn H/C each at the start of the Universe's creation, although they may be killed or die by other means, depending on the individuals in the Universe.

Their involvement in the Universe varies; some H/C are completely hands-off and are unknown to their denizens, others have been killed and eaten by lesser gods, and still others are popular celebrities. It's all up to the individuals.

Gladar

Gladar exist outside of Universes, and are their creators. They are the most powerful entities within Timelines, being made entirely out of pure magic, with bodies that are more of a parlor trick than true flesh and blood. Their bodies can be broken apart, which reveals their vulnerable magical core (typically a cloud of Magninium) known as the 'base form'. They are still aware in this form and usually will attempt to recreate their body quickly to protect themselves.

Typically, Gladar create Universes, which are a reflection of their interests, personality, etc. They handcraft the rules of the Universe and the Harmonics/Chaotics, who will go on to populate lesser gods, who will then create mortals. This Universe feeds the Gladar magic, and they will usually only have one at a time.

Most Gladar live in Universe Core, an empty expanse of land lightyears across. They can edit Universe Core as they please, and usually live in small groups of cities of Gladar with similar interests.

Fragment

Fragments exist outside of Timelines, and are incredibly powerful entities made of pure magic. They are created when the fusions Genesis and Bereave split, and small shards of their primordial magic break apart and form fragments.

There are very few limits to their powers, although many tend to mimic mortal appearances and ways of life. Most Fragments are in charge of protecting the Timeline that they woke up in, and often assume a form that is similar to that Timeline's denizens. (A cat Timeline will probably include a Fragment who appears to be a cat, for example.)

Most Fragments belong to the Coalition of Reality, which is a dedicated group working together to preserve Timelines out of a love for life and affection for reality. Some chose to leave the COR or actively work against it, however.

They typically avoid telling lesser beings the true nature of what they are and of Timelines. Most Gladar, for example, will not know who their Fragments are, or what a Frag even is.

Magnitude Fragment

Magnitude Fragments (Mag Frags) were created when the primordial fusion Singularity split apart, and large chunks of the initial creation were cast off and formed underlying structures that allowed Genesis and Bereave (the halves of Singularity) to create Timelines. They are the oldest entities in the scope of all Timelines, and are unfathomably powerful.

Each represents a different shape or fundamental force, known as an integral structure. There are 33 in total.

Their mere presence is often so radioactive and overwhelming that they can literally melt the brains of lesser beings. Fragments are barely able to cling to coherence around Mag Frags, and often uncontrollably mimic the Mag Frag's emotions or desires. Mag Frags can get around this by assuming a mortal disguise that blocks their radiation, although upholding this for too long is often painful.

They can edit entire Timelines with ease, and often do not understand the concept of running out of magic or limits of knowledge. They are, in a phrase, pure reality warpers.
